1. Expenses
a) Overhead of the case
The amount requested as "overhead of the case" covers as the overheads as the expenses specific to the case though contractually accounted.
The overheads include among others:
- professional buildings (rent, tax on real estate, consumption of energy, insurances, etc.);
- books, periodicals, documentation;
- subscriptions, data banks;
- seminars, congresses, study periods;
- professional contributions;
- accountancy costs;
- entertainment expenses;
- professional garments;
- professional liability insurance;
- various taxes;
- acquisition and maintenance of computer and office equipment.
The expenses specific to the case but contractually accounted are:
- telephone, telefax, electronic communication expenses;
- photocopies, safe exceptional expenses;
- travelling expenses within the legal district of the law firm.
The expenses of opening of case are fixed at an amount equal to 18 % of the amount of the cumulated fees.
b) Secretarial costs
These expenses include:
- wages and social contributions for the employee staff, social secretariat costs;
- printed papers costs, other consumable and forwarding costs;
- writing paper, sorters, filing spaces....;
- amortizing of the necessary equipment (printers, scanners, fax…).
For these expenses, it is accounted:
- for each page of mail: 9,50 €
- for each typed document (agreements, proceeding documents, written findings, summons, requests,…): 17 € per page
c) Travelling expenses
The travelling costs within the legal district of the firm are included in the overhead of the case.
For travelling expenses out of the legal district of the firm, it is accounted 0,45 € per kilometer.
2. Outlays
Outlays are expenses incurred by counsel in the name and for account of its client.
These expenses include amongst other things :
- court expenses;
- bailiff fees and costs;
- clerk's office or procedure fees and costs;
- translation fees and costs;
- …
